Atmore, Ala. – After more than 25 years in government contracting, Sara Walker has built a career defined by collaboration, technical excellence, and a commitment to helping others succeed. Now, as Senior Contracts Manager for PCI Federal, she is extending that commitment beyond her organization through service as the newly elected Vice President of Programs for the National Contract Management Association (NCMA) Huntsville Chapter for the 2026–2027 program year. It is an achievement she describes as both a personal honor and a meaningful professional milestone.

For Walker, the election represents more than a leadership position. Being elected by her peers within the Huntsville contracting community makes the opportunity especially meaningful and reinforces her commitment to serving the profession. It is an opportunity to give back to the government contracting community that has shaped her career through mentorship, collaboration, and lifelong learning. “Throughout my career, I have benefited from mentors, professional relationships, shared knowledge, and collaboration with others across government industry,” she said. “I wanted the opportunity to help create those same experiences for professionals at every stage of their careers.

Walker is also proud to represent PCI Federal and the Poarch Creek Indians while serving the Huntsville chapter, bringing the organization’s commitment to excellence, collaboration, and professional development to one of the nation’s leading government contracting communities.

In her new role, Walker will oversee programming designed to educate, connect, and inspire NCMA members. Her vision centers on creating events that are practical, engaging, and relevant to today’s rapidly evolving acquisition environment.
 
“Government contracting is constantly evolving,” Walker explained. “I want our programs to provide practical knowledge while also creating opportunities for discussion, professional development, collaboration, and relationship-building.”

As Vice President of Programs, she will help support the chapter’s signature educational events, including GovCon, while helping shape the development of a potential Huntsville Education Seminar (HES). She hopes to bring together voices from across the acquisition community, including government agencies, large and small businesses, tribally owned enterprises, academia, and acquisition professionals, in an effort to foster meaningful conversations and strengthen professional connections

“I believe some of the most valuable learning occurs when people with different experiences and perspectives come together,” Walker said. “My goal is for attendees to leave our programs with new knowledge, professional connections, and information they can apply in their careers and organizations.”

Walker’s experience at PCI Federal has uniquely prepared her for this leadership opportunity. As Senior Contracts Manager, she works across a complex federal contracting environment supporting multiple affiliated companies, joint ventures, mentor-protégé initiatives, and customers including the Department of Defense and NASA. Her work requires close collaboration with executive leadership, government customers, program teams, industry partners, and professionals representing a wide range of disciplines.

Walker credits PCI Federal for fostering an environment that encourages professional growth and industry engagement. She says the company’s support for continuing education, leadership development, and participation in organizations like NCMA gave her the confidence to pursue this opportunity.

Throughout her career, Walker has managed complex contractual relationships, advised executive leadership on high-visibility acquisition matters, developed standardized contract management processes, and mentored fellow contracts professionals. While technical expertise has been central to her success, she believes the profession requires much more. Among her most rewarding experiences has been mentoring others in helping to build confidence, expand knowledge, and grow within the profession, reinforcing the belief that knowledge has the greatest value when it is shared.

As she begins her term, Walker hopes her service encourages others to become involved in professional organizations and invest in the future of the acquisition community.  She encourages colleagues and fellow professionals to participate in whatever way they can, whether by attending an event, joining a committee, mentoring someone, or simply sharing their experiences. Every person brings a perspective that may help someone else.

Walker feels that serving NCMA is an opportunity for her to give back, continue learning, and help create meaningful opportunities for the next generation of contracting professionals.  As she steps into this new leadership role, she looks to not only help create meaningful educational opportunities that strengthen collaboration across the government contracting community for one of the nation’s premier contracting communities but will also proudly represent PCI Federal and the Poarch Creek Indians, demonstrating the organization’s ongoing commitment to leadership, service, and excellence within the federal acquisition community.
