Atmore, Ala. –Poarch Creek Indians have been selected as a 2025 Whitney M. Young Jr. Service Award Honoree, a prestigious recognition presented by the Scouting America – Mobile Area Council.

This distinguished national award honors individuals and organizations that have demonstrated outstanding service in creating and implementing opportunities for youth from all backgrounds—especially those from rural or low-income urban communities. The Poarch Creek Indians have been recognized for their unwavering dedication, leadership, and community engagement, which embody the mission and values of both Scouting America and the legacy of civil rights leader Whitney M. Young Jr.

Poarch Creek Indians Tribal Council Member Justin Stabler, expressed gratitude for the recognition. “We are honored to receive the Whitney M. Young Jr. Service Award,” Stabler said. “This recognition is a reflection of the incredible young people we have had the privilege to work with and our community leaders who continue to inspire change. We believe every child deserves the opportunity to succeed and are proud to be part of a movement and organization that works every day to make that a reality.”

The award will be formally presented at the Whitney M. Young Jr. Service Award Presentation Ceremony on Thursday, August 7, 2025, at 6:00 PM, at the headquarters of Austal USA in Mobile, Alabama.
