Poarch Creek Indians Launch New Campaign Spotlighting Efforts to Build Businesses/Create Jobs Across Alabama

Atmore, Ala. (October 2026) – A new multi-media campaign created by the Poarch Creek Indians will kick-off this Saturday during the SEC Alabama vs Georgia football game.

The campaign “opens the doors” to the diverse collection of businesses that the Tribe has built and the jobs it has created.  Filmed in multiple locations across the State, the campaign — called “Growing Home” — spotlights local employees and their families and celebrates Alabama as a great place to live and work.

The Poarch Creek Indians Tribal Chair and CEO Stephanie Bryan noted, “We are so proud to have created economic development in Alabama’s small towns and in cities, as well.  For us, it’s important to provide jobs that allow our young people to stay at home and build a great life, just as generations before them have done.”

The Poarch Creek Indians built, own and operate three Four-Diamond resorts in Alabama under their Wind Creek brand. In 2018, the Tribe began diversifying its business holdings and today owns a wide spectrum of enterprises across the State. Collectively, those businesses generate more than 4,000 jobs, the vast majority of which are held by non-tribal members. (Only about 1,500 Tribal Citizens currently live in Alabama.)

Poarch Creek Tribal Council Member Arthur Mothershed, who also serves as Chief Growth Officer for Wind Creek Hospitality, remarked that “We believe that the more people understand Alabama has a top-notch workforce and is business-friendly, the more we can attract great companies to put down roots here and keep our State competitive.”

The campaign provides a window into the workings of a wide spectrum of the Tribe’s businesses. Those features include farming, meat processing, skilled manufacturing, land and wildlife management, shipbuilding, businesses that support the military and the space program, and hospitality and tourism.

“Our tribal home is in a rural part of Alabama, and we lived for many years in poverty” noted Chair Bryan. She continued, “We know first-hand how successful businesses can bring in real economic development. It’s important for us as a people to create jobs that support communities, and we hope that this campaign will encourage other businesses to make investments in Alabama and its hard-working, wonderful people. “
