Poarch Creek Indians Helps Make Wishes Come True for Alabama Children

Atmore, ALThe Poarch Creek Indians and Wind Creek Hospitality recently partnered with America’s Thrift Store for a donation drive benefiting Make-A-Wish Alabama, an organization that grants wishes to children who are fighting critical illnesses.

Employees and community members throughout the area donated clothing, shoes, kitchenware, games, and other household items that were used for in-store purchases at America’s Thrift Store. Funds raised are then used to grant wishes for children across the state.

“I cannot thank the Poarch Creek Indians and Wind Creek enough for their incredible support and contribution to our recent donation drive for Make-A-Wish Alabama, ” said Stan Tarorick, VP, Supply Growth & Logistics for America’s Thrift Stores. “Their commitment and generosity is nothing short of inspiring.

Through the Tribe’s efforts, America’s Thrift Store collected a total of 18,576 pounds. “This significant amount not only sets a strong foundation for future endeavors, but also stands as a beacon of hope, encouraging others to join us in this noble cause,” Tarorick added.  “Together, we are making strides towards granting more wishes and bringing joy to the lives of many children in need of hope.”

America’s Thrift Stores is Make-A-Wish Alabama’s largest corporate partner. For every pound of gently used clothing, shoes, and household goods donated to America’s Thrift Stores, Make-A-Wish Alabama benefits.

Make-A-Wish Alabama grants wishes in all 67 counties of the state and has granted more than 800 wishes since its inception in 2012. Headquartered in Birmingham and locally governed by a Board of Directors, Make-A-Wish Alabama is one of 60 chapters of the Make-A-Wish® Foundation of America, the world’s largest wish-granting organization.

Upcoming donation drives for Wind Creek Montgomery and Wind Creek Wetumpka are June 3-24.  For more information on the Poarch Creek Indians, visit poarchcreekindians.org.
