William & Billy Bailey

William & Billy Bailey

Archive

In the past, many Creek Indians were forced to abandon their religion, language, and traditions in the name of assimilation and survival. William and his son Billy are passionate about keeping the Poarch Creek ceremonial culture alive. Today, as the Meko of the ceremonial grounds, William continues to teach other Tribal members about their rich heritage. Leading by example, the Baileys have taught generations of younger Poarch Tribal members how their history shapes who they are and who they could become.
