As the 2015 Senior Princess, Caitlyn was initially anxious about stepping into the limelight to represent Poarch. But she wanted to inspire others — to let them know that if she could do something that was hard for her, they could do difficult things too. The journey from entering the contest to winning the crown prompted her to face her fears and to discover a new sense of her own resilience. The process also led to a deeper understanding of the Tribe’s history and values. She learned to make moccasins, to bead, to weave a basket and sing Creek hymns. Becoming Princess was transformational for Caitlyn. It helped shape her into a capable, committed young woman ready to act as a role model for those around her.
