Eddie Tullis Receives the Sovereign Warrior Award at the 2026 Indian Gaming Tradeshow & Convention
Atmore, Ala. (April 1, 2026) – Eddie Tullis, former Tribal Chair of the Poarch Creek Indians, was honored with the prestigious 2026 Rick Hill–Tim Wapato Sovereign Warrior Award at the Sovereign Warrior Celebration Luncheon on April 1st. This award was presented by the Indian Gaming Association at their annual Indian Gaming Tradeshow & Convention held in San Diego, California.
The Sovereign Warrior Award is one of the highest honors presented by the Indian Gaming Association. It recognizes individuals whose leadership, vision, and dedication have made a lasting impact on tribal sovereignty and the advancement of Native nations.
The event brought together tribal leaders, industry partners, and distinguished guests from across Indian Country to recognize outstanding leadership, reflect on shared history, and celebrate the enduring strength of tribal sovereignty.
Eddie Tullis’ legacy is deeply rooted in perseverance and progress. As Tribal Chairman, he played a pivotal role in securing federal recognition for the Poarch Creek Indians, which transformed the future of the Tribe and opened the door to economic development, self-determination, and expanded opportunities for generations to come. His work helped lay the foundation for the Tribe’s success and strengthened the broader movement for sovereignty across Indian Country.
