The partnership between Magic Moments and the Poarch Creek Indians continues to make a lasting impact on families across Alabama, bringing joy, support and unforgettable experiences to children facing serious medical challenges.
That commitment was on full display during the 8th Annual Magic Moments Day at OWA Parks & Resort, where 61 Magic Moments families, representing 275 participants from across the state, gathered for a day of fun, connection and celebration. The event, part of Magic Moments’ Beyond the Moment program, allows wish families to reconnect and build relationships long after their original wish experience.
For eight years, OWA Parks & Resort, owned and operated by the Poarch Creek Indians, has partnered with Magic Moments to host the annual event. What began with just over 100 participants has grown into one of the organization’s most anticipated gatherings, welcoming more and more guests each year.
Magic Moments is Alabama’s only wish-granting organization dedicated exclusively to children living with chronic life-threatening and acute life-altering medical conditions. Since its founding in 1984, the nonprofit has granted more than 5,000 wishes to children in all 67 Alabama counties.
“Hosting Magic Moments Day each year is one of the most meaningful traditions at OWA, and reminds us why we do what we do,” said Ashley Darby, Director of Marketing, OWA Parks & Resort . “This day is about more than rides and attractions. It’s about bringing families together, creating meaningful experiences, and showing children and their loved ones that an entire community stands behind them. We are honored to continue this partnership with Magic Moments and to help create memories that will last a lifetime.”
Throughout the day, families enjoyed OWA’s rides, attractions and entertainment while spending quality time together in an environment free from the daily stresses often associated with medical treatments and appointments.
The Beyond the Moment program is designed to extend the impact of a wish beyond a single experience, creating opportunities for families to stay connected and build lasting relationships. Organizers say partnerships like the one with OWA and the Poarch Creek Indians help ensure those opportunities continue to grow.
“Thanks to the generosity of Poarch Creek Indians and OWA Parks & Resort, we’re able to continue showing these children and their families that they are supported and celebrated by giving them moments they’ll never forget,” said Logan Sharman, Magic Moments South Alabama Director. “These days are about more than just a moment of joy, they’re about lasting memories and real hope.”
This annual event reflects the ongoing commitment of OWA Parks & Resort and other businesses of Poarch Creek Indians, to investing in the communities they serve and supporting organizations that make a lasting impact. More than a partnership, it represents a shared mission with Magic Moments to strengthen communities, support families, and create meaningful experiences for children facing extraordinary challenges.
As attendance continues to grow each year, both organizations remain committed to ensuring Alabama families have opportunities to celebrate, connect and create memories that last far beyond a single day at OWA.
