Poarch Creek Indians Launch Dedicated Ambulance Service for Tribal Community Through MedStar Partnership
Atmore, Ala. — The Poarch Creek Indians have launched a new dedicated ambulance service for their Tribal community through a partnership with MedStar. This initiative reflects the Tribe’s ongoing investment in the health, safety, and well-being of its citizens.
“This new ambulance service is a significant milestone in our mission to provide exceptional care and support for our community,” said April Sells, Director of Tribal Emergency Services for the Poarch Creek Indians. “With this service, we are reinforcing our promise to prioritize the health and safety of our citizens.”
The partnership ensures that members of the Poarch Creek community have consistent access to emergency medical care, with a dedicated ambulance providing faster response times and greater peace of mind. MedStar, a respected regional provider, will work in coordination with the Tribe to offer services specifically designed to meet the needs of the Poarch community.
“Growing up at Poarch, I saw firsthand what having limited medical services did to our Tribal families,” said Stephanie Bryan, Tribal Chair and CEO of the Poarch Creek Indians. “It has been one of my priorities to continually improve the quality of and access to healthcare. Having a dedicated ambulance service that can be there when every minute counts will have a tremendous impact on our community and our quality of life for generations to come.”
“MedStar is honored to partner with the Poarch Creek Indians to bring high-quality emergency services to this vibrant community,” said Brad Jernigan, Operations Manager for MedStar. “Together, we’re ensuring that timely, reliable care is always within reach.”
This partnership is part of the Poarch Creek Indians’ broader vision to expand healthcare services and invest in long-term, sustainable resources that benefit their community. The Tribe remains committed to strengthening the well-being of its citizens and honoring the values of care and resilience that define its mission.
