Picking Mayhaw berries is a southern tradition that Lori’s family has passed down over generations. Under the late summer sun, while the family picked together, stories were told and history learned and preserved. The fruit bears itself once a year and is then transformed into a sweet and subtle jelly indigenous to Alabama. Lori learned about the berries from her mother and grandfather, and now shares the Mayhaw tradition with her own daughter.
