The Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts (MMFA), Alabama’s oldest fine arts museum, was started in 1930 by artist John Kelly Fitzpatrick, Mrs. Harry S. Houghton, and the “Morning View Painters” in an abandoned school building provided by the City of Montgomery at an annual rent of one dollar. Today, it exhibits artworks of international, national and local significance for the enrichment, enlightenment, and enjoyment of its community.
