Alabama Shakespeare Festival, the State’s Theatre, is the largest professional, producing theatre in Alabama and one of the largest Shakespeare festivals in the world. Started by Martin Platt in1972, the Festival was able to take up residence in Montgomery through a generous donation from Wynton Blount. Educationally, economically and culturally, ASF has had a tremendous cultural impact, bringing stories to life throughout the state and across the southern region.
