OUR PEOPLE
Caitlyn Barnhill Smith

As the 2015 Senior Princess, Caitlyn feared standing in the limelight to represent Poarch. But she wanted to inspire other girls like her—if she could do it, they could too. The contest became a journey that led to a deeper understanding of the Tribe’s—and her—history and values. In learning to make moccasins, to bead, weave a basket, to sing Creek hymns, her fear melted away. Becoming Princess brought Caitlyn closer to her culture, and to a place of confidence as a capable, committed young woman.
