INVOLVEMENT MEETING
The purpose of this public involvement meeting is to inform the public of this potential project.
The Poarch Band of Creek Indians Public Works Department is conducting online public involvement for the proposed project.
Project Overview
Location: Atmore (Escambia County)
The proposed project is located along County Road 1 in the City of Atmore, Escambia County, Alabama. The project proposes to resurface and restripe approximately 26 miles of Escambia County owned roadways from Howard Street to Booneville Road and provide 2’ safety widening. Affected roads include: Jack Springs Road, Poarch Road, Ewing Drive, Sunset Drive, Maple Drive, Smith Dairy Road, and 3-Mile Road. This project will help improve safety, operations, and efficiency along the route.
Project Details
Jack Springs Road
Jack Springs Road from Howard Street to the interstate overpass will be widened to two 12’ travel lanes with 1.5’ scored shoulders and restriped. The bridge over Brushy Creek will be replaced.
Jack Springs Road Bypass
A new road segment will be constructed with two 12’ travel lanes with 1.5’ scored shoulders and striped. The new road would begin before Paredes Way and end just past Judson Cemetery effectively creating a bypass through the main Tribal Complex.
Sunset Drive
Sunset Drive will be widened to two 12’ travel lanes and restriped.
Smith Dairy Road
Smith Dairy Road will be widened to two 12’ travel lanes and restriped.
Ewing Drive
Ewing Drive will be widened to two 12’ travel lanes with 1.5’ scored shoulders and restriped. The bridge over Perdido Creek will be replaced.
Poarch Road
Poarch Road will be widened to two 12’ travel lanes with 1.5’ scored shoulders and restriped. The section of Poarch Road from Bell Creek Road to Old Uriah Road will be further widened to include a 12’ turning lane.
3-Mile Road
3-Mile Road will be widened to two 12’ travel lanes with 1.5’ scored shoulders and restriped.
