Poarch artists at the Fair

Are you a certified Poarch Creek artist? Do you know one? The Pensacola Fair has contacted Mrs. Margaret Baggett to invite our native artists to come and demonstrate (and sell) at the fair. If you are interested, contact us so we can schedule a time slot for you at our booth. We will have the booth for eleven days. It will be first come, first serve. Spread the word! If you will text the word TRADARTS to the number 84483 you can receive updates on your cell phone as well. We will have the booth from Thurs. Oct. 20 to Sun. Oct. 30. The Cultural Department is comprised of seven Board of Directors and a full time staff. The Cultural Department oversees all aspects of cultural education, museum development, use of the Pow Wow Grounds, cultural programs, and related activities and events. The Cultural Department hosts a number of unique events on an annual basis including the Creek Indian Art Show, Sovereignty Celebration, Calvin McGhee Memorial, and the annual Thanksgiving Pow Wow.

The Kerretv Cuko (Building of Learning) Poarch Band of Creek Indians Museum and Gift Shop is open to the public Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The Museum and Gift Shop is located at 5484 Jack Springs Road, Atmore, AL 36502.

The Cultural Department hosts a variety of special programs including: Pow Wow Club, Poarch Creek Princess Program and Competition, Community Stickball Games, Native Youth Issue Forums, and Elder Recognition Program. Traditional Culture and Arts Classes included: Creek Basketry, Finger-weaving, Traditional Clothing, Shell Carving, Creek Language, and Creek Patchwork.
